What are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that's surgically placed into the jawbone where a tooth is missing. Over the following months, the bone grows around the implant and locks it firmly in place — a process called osseointegration. Once fully healed, we attach a custom porcelain crown that restores both the look and function of your natural tooth.

Depending on your situation, we may recommend a dental implant, a porcelain bridge, or another restorative approach. During your consultation, we'll explain which option best suits your needs.

Implant Post

A small titanium screw placed into the jawbone. Over several months, the bone fuses with the post through a process called osseointegration, creating a stable foundation.

Abutment

A connector piece — made from titanium or ceramic — that links the implant post to the crown above it.

Porcelain Crown

The visible part of your new tooth. Made from high-strength zirconia or ceramic, it's custom-shaped and color-matched to blend with your existing teeth.

Who Needs Dental Implants?

  • One or more missing teeth
  • Missing multiple consecutive teeth
  • Complete tooth loss in one or both arches (All-on-4 / All-on-6)
  • Teeth too damaged by decay or gum disease to be saved
  • Anyone looking for a long-term, fixed replacement rather than removable dentures
  • Patients who want to avoid grinding down healthy adjacent teeth for a bridge

Benefits of Dental Implants

Restores Chewing Capacity

Because the implant is anchored directly in the jawbone, you can eat and chew normally — including foods you may have been avoiding.

Preserves Your Jawbone

When a tooth is missing, the underlying bone gradually shrinks. An implant stimulates the bone just like a natural root would, helping prevent the bone loss that can eventually change your facial appearance.

Preserves Adjacent Teeth

Unlike a traditional bridge, implants don't require reducing or reshaping the teeth on either side. Your healthy teeth stay untouched.

Long-term Stability

Implant posts can last for many years with proper care and regular check-ups.

Natural Aesthetics

The porcelain crown is customized to match the color and shape of adjacent teeth, so it blends in naturally with your smile.

Stabilizes the Bite

An implant fills the gap and keeps surrounding teeth from shifting out of alignment.

The Dental Implant Procedure

1. Assessment & Imaging

We begin with a thorough oral examination and a CBCT (Cone Beam CT) scan to evaluate bone volume, density, and the position of surrounding structures.

2. Treatment Planning

Based on the scan, we select the optimal implant system, position, and angulation for your case.

3. Implant Placement

The titanium post is placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia in a fully sterile setting. A surgical guide may be used for precision. Most patients report minimal discomfort.

4. Osseointegration (Healing)

Over the next 3–6 months, the bone fuses with the implant, creating a solid anchor.

5. Crown Placement

Once integration is confirmed, we take impressions and fit your custom porcelain crown.

6. Follow-Up Care

You'll receive aftercare instructions and a follow-up schedule — typically every 6 to 12 months.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Implants

Is getting a dental implant painful? Do I need time off work?

The procedure is done under local anesthesia, so you won't feel pain during placement. Afterward, mild soreness is normal and usually manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Most patients return to their daily routine within a day or two.

What brands of implant posts does the clinic use?

We work with established implant systems from Straumann (Switzerland), Neodent (Straumann Group, Brazil), Tekka (France), and Osstem/Dentium (South Korea). Your dentist will recommend the most suitable system based on your clinical situation and budget.

What is the lifespan of a dental implant?

Dental implants are designed to last. Studies show a success rate of over 95% at the 10-year mark. With good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, many implants last a lifetime. All implant systems we use come with the manufacturer's original warranty.
