What a dental implant quote should include
If you are comparing dental implant cost in Vietnam, the first problem is that one quoted number can mean very different things. At Lina Dental Clinic in Ho Chi Minh City, a single-tooth implant usually has three parts: the implant post, the abutment and the crown. Our price list shows each item separately, so the post price does not include the abutment or the crown.
This guide explains what each line covers, which items apply only if your case needs them, and how to compare quotes fairly. It is general information. Dr. Lina Do gives the exact cost for your case after the examination and X-ray.
The three parts of one implant tooth
According to the American Dental Association (ADA), an implant restoration consists of a post placed in the jawbone, a connector and a crown on top (ADA - Dental Implants). Each part is priced on its own:
- Implant post: the titanium part placed in the jawbone in place of the tooth root. The price depends on the implant system.
- Abutment: the connector between the post and the crown. A customised abutment is listed separately.
- Implant crown: the visible tooth, chosen by material.
Some cases also need a healing cap or a cover cap, depending on the technique.
Price list for the main items
These prices come from the Lina Dental Clinic price list. The full, current table is on the price page.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Neodent implant (Straumann Group, Brazil) | 25,000,000 VND/tooth |
| Straumann Switzerland BLT implant | 33,000,000 VND/tooth |
| Straumann Switzerland BLT Active implant | 36,000,000 VND/tooth |
| Straumann TLX Active implant | 42,000,000 VND/tooth |
| Customised abutment | 2,000,000 VND/tooth |
| PFM crown on implant | 4,500,000 VND/unit |
| DDBio crown on implant | 6,500,000 VND/unit |
| Cercon crown on implant | 7,000,000 VND/unit |
| 3M Lava crown on implant | 8,000,000 VND/unit |
| Healing cap or cover cap | 2,000,000 VND/tooth |
To read the table, pick one implant system, add the abutment if your case needs it, then add one crown type. The final figure depends on your choices and on the condition of your bone and gums.
Items charged only when your case needs them
Not every patient needs extra procedures. The following are charged only when the doctor indicates them:
- Bone grafting, when the jawbone lacks the volume to hold the post.
- A collagen membrane used together with the graft.
- Sinus lifting in the upper back jaw when the sinus floor is too low.
- A surgical guide, which helps place the post in the planned position.
When you compare quotes from different clinics, ask whether these items are included. A low quote that leaves out the crown or abutment cannot be compared with an all-in quote.
Consultation and X-ray are free
Examination, consultation and the periapical X-ray at the clinic are free. X-ray is the default imaging. Complex cases may need a 3D CT scan. The clinic has no CT machine on site, so the doctor refers you to a partner imaging centre, which charges for the scan. The clinic does not charge for it.
Why the same implant can cost different amounts
Implant system
Systems differ by manufacturer, surface design and the clinical data behind them. Ask for the exact system name and make sure it is written in your treatment plan.
Crown material
PFM, DDBio, Cercon and Lava crowns differ in price and properties. The doctor advises based on tooth position, chewing habits and aesthetic needs.
Bone and gum condition
Cases with bone grafting or sinus lifting need more time and materials. Inflamed gums should be treated and stabilised before an implant is placed.
Visits and healing time
There are usually four main appointments: examination and imaging, planning, implant placement, and crown fitting. Healing between placement and crown is usually about 3 to 6 months or longer. The doctor confirms the timing after your examination.
Visiting from abroad
Many international patients ask how long they must stay. From the first to the third appointment, a stay of about one week to 10 days in Ho Chi Minh City is usual. You then return after healing for the crown. The clinic can suggest accommodation near the clinic and provide the documents you need for an insurance claim. Dr. Lina Do's team communicates in English.
Risks to know before deciding
Implant surgery carries risks: swelling, bruising and pain in the first days; infection or inflammation around the implant; failure of the post to integrate with the bone, which is more likely in smokers; and numbness of the lip if the site is near a nerve. Uncontrolled diabetes, radiotherapy to the head and neck, bisphosphonate medicines and blood thinners need careful review. Tell the doctor your full medical history.
Peri-implant disease is addressed in the clinical guidance of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). Long-term cost therefore includes regular check-ups and good hygiene.
Alternatives
A porcelain bridge suits patients who prefer not to have jawbone surgery or whose health does not yet allow it. A bridge requires reshaping the neighbouring teeth. See our porcelain crowns page for details. The doctor will compare the options for your situation.
