If you are comparing dental implant cost in Vietnam, you will often see a single headline figure. That figure is usually the price of the implant post alone. A finished implant tooth has several parts, each priced separately, and some patients need extra procedures. This guide breaks down the price list at Lina Dental Clinic in Ho Chi Minh City so you can build a realistic budget, and explains what to plan for if you are travelling from abroad.
What makes up one implant tooth
The American Dental Association (ADA – MouthHealthy) describes implants as posts made of titanium or other body-compatible materials, placed in the jaw to anchor replacement teeth. For a single missing tooth, the restoration usually has three parts:
- Implant post – sits in the jawbone and replaces the root.
- Abutment – connects the post to the crown and carries the biting force.
- Crown – the visible tooth you chew and smile with.

- Neodent post + customised abutment + PFM crown: 25,000,000 + 2,000,000 + 4,500,000 = 31,500,000 VND.

The jawbone tends to shrink after a tooth is lost, so people who have had a gap for years are more likely to need grafting. Only an examination and imaging can confirm it.
Why two implant quotes can differ
- Implant system – designs, component ranges and prices differ; the doctor recommends one based on your bone and the tooth position.
- Crown material – PFM costs less; all-ceramic options such as Cercon or Lava give a more natural shade and are often considered for front teeth.
- Bone condition – grafting, membrane or a sinus lift add cost.
- Number and position of missing teeth.
- General health – the ADA notes that health matters more than age, that conditions such as diabetes can affect healing, and that tobacco can slow healing (ADA – MouthHealthy).
Exam, imaging and timeline
- Examination, consultation and periapical X-rays at the clinic are free.
- For implant planning, the doctor may also request a 3D CT scan to check bone volume and nerve position. It is taken and charged by our partner imaging center; the clinic does not charge for it.
There are usually four main appointments: examination and imaging, planning and agreeing the cost, implant placement, and fitting the crown. Healing between placement and the crown usually takes 3 to 6 months or longer, depending on the case; the ADA also notes that some patients wait up to several months before the teeth are attached (ADA – MouthHealthy). Planning a trip from abroad
Because of the healing period, most international patients plan two trips: the first for the exam, planning and implant placement, the second a few months later for the crown. Risks to know before you commit
Implant placement is surgery. Possible problems include swelling, bruising and pain in the first days (more after grafting), infection or inflammation around the implant, a post that does not integrate with the bone (more likely in smokers), lip numbness if the site is close to a nerve, and parts that loosen or wear over time. If a post does not integrate, the doctor places another post or finds a suitable alternative.

- Does the price include the post, abutment and crown? Will I need a healing cap or cover cap?
- Do I need bone grafting, a membrane or a sinus lift, and why?
- Do I need a 3D CT scan, and where is it taken?
- What are my alternatives, such as a bridge?
